Newborn Breastfeeding Basics

with Adriane Stare

Feeding a baby with your body may be simple, but that doesn’t mean it’s easy! Understanding the key fundamentals of early lactation and newborn behavior before your baby arrives can go a long way toward helping you feel less anxious and more prepared when it’s time to breastfeed in real life.

This workshop is perfect for expectant parents seeking clarity, confidence, and reassurance in the early days of milk-making and feeding their babies.

Join Adriane Stare, Postpartum Educator and Lactation & Infant Feeding Specialist from Mostpartum NYC, for a practical and enlightening class on what to expect as you learn to feed your new baby.

In this workshop, you’ll learn:

  • How human milk production works and what your hormones are doing

  • How to advocate for an undisturbed “Golden Hour” after birth and the benefits of immediate, frequent skin-to-skin contact

  • What to expect (from your body and your baby) in days 0–5 after birth

  • The benefits of hand expressing milk and collecting your own colostrum

  • Positioning tips for comfort and an effective latch

  • Most importantly, how to stay centered and resourced to support both yourself and your baby as you learn together

All attendees will have a chance to practice breastfeeding positions with Adriane's weighted baby doll, and receive take-home handouts to reinforce and further their learning at home!
